Magnificat: A Major Work for Choir and Orchestra

June 2021 | FLORENCE, ITALY

Following the success and Carnegie Hall debut of Seven Last Words, and Gloria, plans are currently under way for Dr. Michael John Trotta’s next major work, Magnificat which will be premiered in the U.S. during the ’19-’20 concert season. In June 2021 Dr. Michael John Trotta will conduct the European premiere of Magnificat for SATB Choirs and Chamber Ensemble in Florence, Italy. We are excited to invite choirs from across the U.S. to take part in this unique opportunity to perform a new major work in the city that gave birth to the Renaissance. In addition to performing Magnificat under the baton of Dr. Michael John Trotta, balanced choirs will have the option of singing their own repertoire as part of a spotlight performance.

United In Song

June 26-July 1, 2021 | TALLINN, ESTONIA

United in Song is a blending of music from the United States and the Baltic countries. Multi-generational mixed choirs will have the opportunity to perform the European premiere of a commissioned piece by Elaine Hagenberg under the baton of Ryan Beeken. The Gala Concert will also include pieces by famed Baltic composers Eriks Esenvalds and Peteris Vasks. Artistic Director Ryan Beeken and Composer-in-Residence Elaine Hagenberg are developing a program that will unite singers and audience, creating an immersive experience for all participants. Additionally, fully balanced choirs have the opportunity for a spotlight performance during the gala concert in Tallinn, Estonia’s beautiful and historic capital city.

Normandy Choral Festival

Remembrance, Hope, Peace: the Music of Bach, Mendelssohn & Arnesen

July 9-14, 2021 | BERLIN & LEIPZIG, GERMANY

Following the theme of “From despair to hope – a plea for peace, then and now,” this stirring program will connect the past with the present, with longings and hopes still as relevant for the times we live in. Repertoire will include several short works of Kim André Arnesen, interspersed with various movements from some of the most well known large works by Mendelssohn and Bach. The Gala concert will take place in the Mendelssohn Hall of the famous Gewandhaus in Leipzig. This historically and musically meaningful program is sure to speak to singers and audience alike.

Theater of Music Festival: Shakespeare EnACTed!

July 10-16, 2021 | STRATFORD-UPON-AVON, ENGLAND

Choruses will bring out their inner thespians at this unique festival offering inspiring music-making as well as workshops and direction from a member of one of England’s top theater schools… all in the historic and beautiful birthplace of William Shakespeare. Festival repertoire will include Benjamin Britten’s fairy choruses from A Midsummer Night’s Dream as well as a medley of choruses from Leonard Bernstein’s inimitable West Side Story, an urban American Romeo and Juliet. Individual choruses will participate in a spotlight series showcasing participating choirs. The gala festival concert will be staged by our guest director. Nationally recognized conductor Emily Ellsworth has prepared Britten’s Midsummer choruses for Lyric Opera of Chicago and has focused her career on the storytelling aspect of choral music. Join us for this unique, dramatic experience!
