Sample Itinerary: 10 Days | 8 nights


You will begin your adventure in travel as you board the jet for your flight over the Pacific. Departure day is the beginning of an exciting adventure to China, with its 5,000-year-old civilization rich in cultural treasures. You will follow the sun as you fly to the Orient.


You are greeted by the friendly Perform International representatives upon arrival in Shanghai, China’s second largest and most cosmopolitan city. You immediately notice the amazing skyscrapers, which tower as far as the eye can see. Beautiful futuristic buildings dominate the skyline, particularly in the recently transformed area known as the Pudong. So many new buildings have interesting designs and you will learn that the city now boasts one of the fastest rail lines in the world, connecting the center with the huge, modern airport. You will travel along the old European-styled buildings fronting on the Bund, the tree-lined avenue bordering the Huangpu River. That night you will enjoy seeing the world-famous Shanghai Acrobats performance.


On this morning you will have a special invitation to visit the most famous of all Children’s Palaces in China. Once the home of a wealthy merchant, this beautiful mansion is dedicated as a recreational and educational facility for Shanghai’s gifted and talented children. You will enjoy watching them perform for you and you will sing a song or two for them. You will continue on to the interesting Temple of the Jade Buddha to see this seated statue made of white jade that was brought to China in 1869. Another jade Buddha statue is there in a rare reclining position. That afternoon you will enjoy a visit to the famous Yu Gardens and the adjacent “Old Town.” Late this afternoon you will have a rehearsal before that evening’s exchange concert performance.


After breakfast, you will board the train (Visitor’s Cars) for a beautiful ride to Hangzhou, called by Marco Polo “the City of Heaven.” The city has become one of the most popular tourist destinations for wealthy Chinese citizens because of its stunning beauty and its situation on the exquisite West Lake (Xi Hu). It also marks the southern terminus of the 1,000-mile long Grand Canal of China. After checking into your hotel you will tour this beautiful city, where there are beautiful garden and parks lining the shore and several outstanding temples, including the Yuefei Mu and the Lingyin Si (one of China’s largest and most famous).


On this day you will enjoy a picturesque short cruise on the Xi Hu Lake, seeing beautiful boats and several exquisite islands. Later that day you will visit the elaborate palace of Emperor Qianlong and have a quick visit to the outstanding Zhejiang Provincial Museum. Later in the afternoon you will have a rehearsal for that evening’s performance by your choir in a beautiful venue in Hangzhou.


On this day, following breakfast, you will take the return train to Shanghai in order to board a flight to Beijing, home to over 11 million people. Beijing is China’s third largest city and the heart of the nation’s government, economy, and culture. You will be entranced by your first look at this magnificent city, as your singers and entourage are motor coached to your lovely hotel for your first evening in Beijing. Dinner and overnight in Beijing.


On this day you will visit the world’s largest plaza, Tiananmen Square, that covers over 100 acres. This square is lined with monumental public buildings fronting the legendary and once Forbidden City. Acres of splendid 15th century halls and pavilions graced with imperial treasures now comprise the Palace Museum. You will follow where millions of people have walked before you as you visit the remarkable complex of exquisite buildings and squares. For almost 500 years ordinary citizens could not enter this vast courtyard, walk the marble paths, or photograph the magnificent setting. The entire grounds of the Palace Museum exceed 250 acres with some of the buildings dating back to 1400. Returning to the hotel there may be time to stop by the Beijing Zoo to visit the Giant Panda, a rare animal native to southwestern China.


On this morning you will visit the Summer Palace, a rest and recreation area for the royal families of long ago with Longevity Hall and Kunming Lake covering over 700 acres. After lunch you will continue to the Temple of Heaven, one of the most photographed buildings in the world. Built in 1420 and restored in 1890, the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is one of the several structures that you will see. That evening you will have a performance in one of Beijing’s beautiful venues. Overnight in Beijing.

Day 9 – BEIJING- Great Wall Visit & Concert

You will visit the Great Wall on this day, which promises to be a highlight of your travels. You will learn of its construction 2,000 years ago and examine first-hand one of the most scenic portions of its 3,700-mile length. You will be entertained by local ethnic musicians and enjoy a catered lunch together as you experience a fun-filled afternoon complete with a mini-concert on the Great Wall with your singers. You will return to Beijing for dinner and overnight.

Day 10 – Beijing / USA

You will enjoy breakfast before boarding your plane for the USA, your hearts filled with rich memories of the gentle Chinese people and mountaintop musical experience in China’s historic capital city.
